Description of Gear Coupling
Gear coupling, a mechanical device designed with a flexible joint, is fixed to each shaft. This transmits the torque between two non collinear shafts. Having higher torque densities than universal joints, this is designed to be fitted a given space whereas universal joints induce lower vibrations. The completely flexible gear coupling consists two hubs , one is with an external gear and other with an internal gear. Gear couplings find their applications in rolling mill machinery and other industrial machines.
